Be Fit McLean Outdoor Adventure Expo

ExpoThe Be Fit McLean Outdoor Adventure Expo, formerly held in February, is coming to the Tysons Corner area in April this year to its new location at the Old Firehouse Teen Center in McLean. Now in the third successful year, the expo is one of the best events for the sports enthusiast because they get to see and try new things as well as see some great entertainment.

In addition, there will be booths with vendors and, of course, food, but the “gear swap” is probably the best part of the whole event. If you’re new to the Tysons Corner area, it will be a great experience for you. If you are coming for a visit, bring your gear and sign up for the gear swap. This gives you a chance to sell or trade in your used road bikes, tents, and other equipment-even sleeping bags and backpacks.

This will also be your chance to explore the area’s best outdoor recreation areas and see interactive displays for your favorite activities. If you are the chef in your camp, you’ll also be able to compete for great prizes in the Dutch Oven Cook-Off! Competitors will cook over an open flame for larger-than-ever prizes including group trips with local outfitters. If the cooking makes you hungry, don’t worry--the Brat King will be selling a variety of delicious treats.

Calleva will be there with their mobile rock wall for anyone who would like to try their hand at Rock Climbing. The bluegrass greats, Drymill Road and Circa Blue, will be performing. The list of exhibitors and sponsors so far include Fairfax Advocates for Better Bicycling (FABB), National Park Service, Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine, Go Ape!, Quantico Orienting Club, REI Fairfax, Wilderness Adventures at Eagle Landing, National Outdoor Leadership School, Traveling Players Ensemble, Sportrock, Maui Jim and Fit Pro Massage. Check out the website to learn more or to sign up for the Gear Swap program.

There is never a dull moment in the Tysons Corner area, and now that spring is here, there will be a variety of outdoor events available. Visit the website to sign up for the gear swap and come on out for some fun!
